On-Call Division – What’s in a Name?

On-Call, Special Projects, Small Projects . . . there are lots of names floating around out there for what we refer to as our On-Call Division. What is it? It is essentially a company within a company – a specialty division we created almost a decade ago to fulfill our customers’ needs completely.

Not every Haselden Construction project is a multi-million dollar behemoth. We love small projects, too! And to accommodate those customers that have smaller projects, we formed our On-Call Division. This allows us to give clients with special projects the individualized attention their projects need to succeed.

 

A League of Its Own

There are several factors that establish our On-Call Division as its own entity:

• Specialized Staff – Our On-Call team is a designated, full-time team that understands this fast-paced product type.
• Typical Project Timeframes – Projects assigned to On-Call are usually those that need to be completed very quickly, often within a few months, or even a few weeks.
• Separate Subcontractor Base – Just as quick turn-around projects require a general contractor that is accustomed to them, it’s also imperative that the subs are well-versed in these quick-hitting jobs. This Division works with subs that understand the processes necessary to complete these projects on-time and on-budget, while sticking to the level of quality all Haselden customers have come to expect.
• Continuous Maintenance/Term Contracts – We are able to provide long-term, standing maintenance agreements for a variety of preconstruction and construction services on an on-going basis.

What type of jobs can we tackle? Pretty much anything you can throw our way! Here are some examples of the four main types of projects that fall under the On-Call Division:

On-Going Service Contracts

On-call contracts, IDIQ (indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity), job order contracting . . . there are many monikers for contracts that encompass multiple jobs. These contracts can comprise a group of facilities requiring continuous maintenance or various small projects at one building. For these clients, we work under long-term, qualifications-based, standing agreements that allow us to provide a variety of preconstruction and construction services on an on-going basis.

New Construction

The On-Call Division provides new construction services on smaller, ground-up projects, including work on playgrounds, pavilions, office buildings, warehouses, and medical and educational facilities.

Minor Renovations

Our minor renovations program is focused on interior tenant improvements. These services assist new and existing tenants in enhancing office functionality. Construction activities usually include items such as flooring and partition modifications.

Major Remodels

Some larger tenant improvement projects involve major remodels. This can include demolition and renovation of entire floors and building interiors, as well as exterior and site improvements such as roofing, windows, ADA accessibility, parking, hardscape and landscape.

What started in 2008 with three people has grown like wild fire! We now have nearly 50 people in our On-Call Division, including dedicated estimators, project managers, superintendents, project engineers, carpenters, and laborers.
