Not all industries have been affected equally by the pandemic. Construction has dealt with some issues, such as delays in material deliveries, but overall, it did pretty well. But the main problem in this post-pandemic era is a labor shortage, which has become, once again, a hot topic.
There are many construction jobs in Colorado, and most employers are struggling to find qualified workers and motivate them to work for them in the long run.
It is estimated that, by 2031, almost half of the current construction workforce will retire. Besides, Colorado has about twice the growth rate of the rest of the nation, so the number of available jobs in construction will continue to increase.
Right now, according to the bureau of labor statistics, the Centennial State has about 180,000 construction workers. It is estimated that, by 2027, it will need around 220,000 workers, to keep up with the demand. In this context, the construction industry will have to attract a significant number of new workers each year (about 8000!), for the next five years.
If you are looking for a job that has no special requirements, you might want to consider the construction industry. You do not have to be qualified, but you can qualify as you work, through an apprenticeship program. It can also be your chance to prove your reliability, which will increase your chances to remain in that company and become increasingly better paid, as you progress in your career.
